Is annual water tank cleaning mandatory in Singapore?
Yes, for applicable installations. Under the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations and SS 636, whoever is responsible for a water service installation with a water storage tank must engage a Licensed Plumber at least once every 12 months to inspect the tank, clean and disinfect it where necessary, and certify it. PUB also carries out random inspections.
